The Vancouver Humane Society
The Vancouver Humane Society (VHS) is a federally registered charity dedicated to exposing animal abuse and assisting individuals, businesses and governments to end animal suffering, cruelty and exploitation.
Here are a few of our campaigns that highlight our work:
RAISING THE BARN: VHS has embarked on a new “Raising the Barn” campaign to raise the standards of farm animal care. It is a sad fact that most farms in Canada do not follow the ‘Five Freedoms’ and instead confine hens, pigs and calves into small cages and crates. Learn more at www.raisingthebarn.ca
CHICKEN OUT!: The aim of Chicken OUT! is to educate the public about the plight of battery cage egg-laying chickens (hens) used to produce eggs.
EAT LESS CHICKEN: Eating less meat, including less chicken, helps reduce the need for factory farming. Our overconsumption of meat is driving the expansion of these cruel systems here and around the world.
RODEOS: VHS is opposed to rodeo because most rodeo events use fear, stress or pain to make animals perform and expose them to considerable risk of injury or death, all for the trivial purpose of entertainment.
